Meeting the Boys

A few good samaritans found these scared little boys in a Lowes parking lot and stepped in to save them. Thank goodness because they are adorable! I picked the two brothers up from the vet today. They estimated their age at about 5 weeks. They are teeny tiny at only about 1.5 lbs each. They were pretty unsure and scared when the vet techs put them into my carrier. The poor babies backed into the corner and looked at the giant people peering in at them. These kittens were on a path to a very rough life, but thanks to some caring people they are going to be loving pets. The volunteers who saved them named the brothers Spaghetti and Meatballs, so away I went with my Italian take out.

When we got home it took a little while for my little shy guys to come out of their carrier. I slowly took the cover off of the carrier and they watched me with their big eyes. Wondering what this strange lady was doing and where they were... They crammed into a tiny corner and I fixed them some canned food, which they sniffed, but weren't too sure about.

Spaghetti (gray and white) is less trusting than his innocent brother Meatballs (tan and white), but he is also braver. Spaghetti has a courage and strength in him. Meatballs is quiet and gentle. Meatballs is always standing behind Spaghetti and waiting for him to lead. They love each other and are very bonded. I gave them some time to settle in and then brought them some new canned food. This time a nice salmon pate. They loved it and began chowing down! First, Spaghetti sampled and then Meatballs followed to share in the feast.

I was so excited that I had to take a video...

I ran out to get them a little enclosed bed at Petsmart. When I returned they had ventured out of their corner and were sniffing the giant kitty tree. They started a little as I opened the door, but recovered quickly. I think they though "Hey... that's the lady who gave us pate..." I put the bed in the corner near the kitty tree to give them some privacy and they both ran right in it. They started to curl up to sleep and then realized there was a fun fluffy ball dangling from the ceiling. SO they played! This is huge! I'm so happy that something as small as a new hideout could make them so much more comfortable.

This duo is only going to get more confident and cuddly. So stay tuned and fall in love!
